Tartan is back!

So today's outfit is yet again mainly focused on a particular garment which I once again fell absolutely in love with when on holiday shopping and although at first I was slightly put off by the price, which was only £20, which I know is standard now a days for a skirt, but being a fashion design student and having to take manufacture and garment construction modules as part of my degree, I know exactly how most garments are put together and in my head I was trying to work out if I could make a similar skirt myself for less money and the answer was yes, but I decided it was too good a skirt to miss the opportunity of owning it, just as my mum starts moaning at me that the car park runs out in 20 minutes and if I don't move fast she'll be leaving me here, which was fine by me but anyway, the skirt was brought and I wore it for the first time to day and instantly remembered why I brought it!

Now the particular skirt which I'm talking about, and is the main topic of today's blogpost is one of my favourite types of material/pattern in the Autumn/Winter, the particular material in question being tartan! Now I know a lot of people think of kilts and Scotland when they think of tartan at first, but it's honestly one of the hottest trends/styles of fabric on the market this upcoming season and is featured in several garments in all the top high-street stores, so to not love the fabric would be cutting you off straight away from all the goodies which will be available next season!

With my love of tartan starting last Autumn/Winter when it was also yet again one of the seasons top trends/prints, I can't wait to start wearing it again in the upcoming months and this skirt, I think, is perfect for all types of occasions no matter what time of day or night whether you're going to college/uni, for a quick costa with your friends, a shopping trip with you mum or a night out with the girls this skirt is just perfect for them all!

Due to the length of the skirt being between your hips and knees, well that's were it falls on me maybe it'll be a bit shorter for some of you taller folk, I am only 5ft1 after all,  it's a cheeky length, but it's still a length that keeps your dignity in tact if you get what I mean, which is ultimately perfect for wearing out at night but also equally as perfect for wearing it in the day, simply team it with a pair of thick tights, some cute pixie boots and a big chunky jumper/cardigan and it's easily transformed into a cute little day number it really is just so easy to wear with everything and I can't wait to wear it to death this Autumn/Winter!

So with that in mind here's todays outfit break down;

Starting from the top of my body the black off shoulder top that I'm wearing is yet again another one of the more popular styles of tops which have been hitting the high-street recently and is set to continue to be popular in the coming months due the length of the sleeves. Now I strongly recommend that you get your hands on one of these tops in a neutral colour like black or white, Topshop always seem to have them in stock and they retail for around £8, because they'll go with everything and even though they're cropped you'll still get your wear out of them this winter; team with a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans and a chunky cardigan and you're set!

Now my skirt I believe I've already sad far too much about, but tartan is definitely set to be one of next seasons hot styles/patterns and the length/style of this skirt also seems to very popular within Autumn/Winter collections this year and is all over the high street shops along with the famous pencil skirt which I love, love, love!

My shoes are one of my favourite pairs of shoes and only cost me £12 from Primark, and although they're not leather and my mum would say I need to buy some "real" shoes for the upcoming winter months because they won't keep my feet dry when it rains/snows, I still recommend this style of shoe to anyone because they're just something a bit different so you're average shoe on the high-street plus they're super comfy so go out and get yourself a pair!

So this is definitely a look I'll be wearing more often and will be teaming it with either big chunk cardigan/jumper of a leather jacket when the weather starts to get colder, I recommend anyone trying this look as it's just so simple and easy to wear and get away with!
Off the Shoulder Long Sleeved Top - Topshop - £10, Tartan Skirt - New Look - £19.99, Shoes - Primark - £12.

So that's today's look, I'll blog again tomorrow let me know your thoughts on the tartan trend, is it a yay or a nay for you and why!
