Stripes are a must

So first of all I'd just like to apologise for not posting yesterday, I just got caught up with little bits and bobs in preparation for next weekends celebrations and once again I'm having a technical difficulty with my laptop not wanting to open blogger, so until my dad's free I'm having to blog from the family computer which is just a nightmare in itself and definitely not as comfy as blogging from my bed in the morning! But hopefully this problem will get fixed this afternoon and I'll be back blogging from the comfort of my own bed tomorrow morning!

Anyway moving on from my technical difficulties, which I seem to be having every other week now for some reason, today's blogpost's focus is on the stripe trend. Now I know many of you will already be more than fully aware that the stripe trend has been around for many years and it is just one of those classic looks which the fashion industry just keeps re-using and re-inventing as it is truly a look that, I believe, never gets old!

However I do understand that a lot of people tend to shy away from stripes because if worn in the wrong way they can make you look a lot bigger than you actually are, luckily I haven't had this problem...yet!, but just so you're not as against wearing stripes as a vampire is to trying garlic ( I've been watching the Vampire Diaries again from the beginning so I'm a little obsessed at the minute) then here's just a few simple rules as to how to wear stripes for your figure;

If you have an apple shaped figure you need to wear vertical stripes as they'll elongate your shape, make sure you keep the stripes you wear thin and in dark colours as it'll compliment your body shape more.

If you have an hourglass shaped figure like myself, then you can pretty much wear stripes where ever you wish to on your body as we have a body shape which certain angled stripes aim to create on other people who don't have this particular body shape, just make sure you keep the stripes you wear going all the same way and you'll be a'okay!

If you have a pear shaped figure then you definitely need to keep the stripes you wear to the upper half of your body, by doing this you'll elongate your upper body, so wear thick stripes on the top half of your body and vertical stripes on your bottom half to make you hips and bum look slimmer!

If you have a slender/petite body then wear thick horizontal stripes to create the illusion that your body has natural curves in the areas that you want to be more defined. Using a combination of vertical and horizontal stripes as well as different stripe thickness will also instantly give you a more curvier frame.

With all that in mind, here's today's outfit breakdown which will hopefully make you want to wear stripes on a more regular basis!

So starting from the top is my beloved hat, which was something that I'd been looking for for ages until I stumbled across it by accident in a part of my home town's Primark store and snatched it up straight away! The style of this hat is bang on trend for this coming season and I would definitely say it is a must have, plus it's a bargain at only £8 from Primark whereas similar hats which I'd found in Topshop were as much as £36, some times it pays off being a bargain hunter!

My top is yet again another piece of clothing in my ever growing wardrobe that I've pretty much worn to death since I brought it, the simple striped style is something that is casual yet you could easily dress up with a big statement neckalace, so therefore can be pretty much worn for any social event which you have in your calender! Like I've said previously in this post, a lot of people shy away from stripes and I used to be one of those people until I found this top, and now I can't get enough of the trend!

Finally my Skinny Jeans (because you've already heard about my love for my jelly shoes too often in previous posts!) are a new item which I've added to my wardrobe just recently and I absolutely love them! I've been looking for a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans for a while now and just happened to stumble across these when I was out shopping one weekend and I have no complaints! They're so comfy and easy to wear with anything plus they suit my body shape down to a tee because they give the illusion that my legs are longer by having a higher waist line, and realistically you can never go wrong with a pair of black skinny jeans can you?

This outfit is effortlessly casual and is so easy to pull off no matter what your body shape!
Hat - Primark - £8, Striped T-Shirt - Topshop - £8, Black Skinny High-Waisted Jeans - Primark - £10, Jelly Shoes - Primark - £4.
 Let me know what you think of the strip trend and if you've been converted or not!
