An Alternative Wedding
So first of all I'd like to apologise for my lack of blogging recently as this past week has just been a busy one for me from everything from interviews for internships to fill my spare time going into second year, to being a bridesmaid for someone I consider my second mum! But anyway I'm back and ready to fill you in on all the latest trends and styles and how I personally would wear them, however, although my blog post will resume as normal from now on, today's blogpost has got a slightly different twist to it!
Today's blogpost is slightly different in comparison to my usual OOTD posts, which i have been uploading and posting for the past few weeks, but not to fear they'll be back up again before you know it like i have already mentioned, once I've got myself organised. Anyway today's blogpost is going to recap the beautiful wedding day of someone who is exceptionally close to me and is honestly like a second mum as it does cover my OOTD of this past Saturday in which I was a bridesmaid but it will also give and future brides out there who are looking for some inspiration an idea of what types of things they could incorporate into their own special days!
So I know that the wedding season is very much on it's way out, unless you choose to have a Autumn/Winter wedding, which isn't as unpopular as it used to be anymore, but if you're planning to get married in the near future and are looking for inspiration that isn't necessarily something that screams typical/traditional wedding, then I recommend you take a look at the photos from the now Mr and Mrs Leashorne's special day, as they are far from the traditional pair but not so un-traditional that it still doesn't have a hint of traditional wedding about it! With this in mind here's the outfit breakdown from the bride to the bridesmaids;
Now of course I'm going to start with the bride and her beautiful wedding dress! Now Lindsay is the most un-traditional person I know, and for her to actually wear white on her wedding day came as a massive shock to us, also did the fact that she was buying her wedding dress and not making it herself, as, after all she does make wedding dresses for a living! None the less Lindsay looked beautiful, in her floor length, 50's styled. white wedding dress, but didn't fail to add that little but of quickness to her dress with a black sash tied around her waist instead of the traditional white now which the dress originally had on it! By doing this, it broke up the dress from the sheer block of white and added something different which also linked nicely in with the bridesmaids dresses. Lindsay looked stunning in her traditional but un-traditional wedding dress and I couldn't now, imagine her in anything else!
Next is the bridesmaid dresses, and yes they were black! Now black is one of the few colours which brides tend to stay away from when planning their big day, but I absolutely loved having a black bridesmaid dress as; A. Black it the most slimming colour in the world and B. Even if you spill something down it then you couldn't really tell, which in my case is a lifesaver as I always manage to spill something down myself. Although the colour is a statement against the traditional wedding feel/ look, the fact that all the bridesmaids had different styled dresses is also something which doesn't follow tradition but is perfect in the way that all the bridesmaids felt comfortable and loved what they were wearing, so maybe consider this when looking for your bridesmaids dresses because one style may suit one of your bridesmaids but look like a bin bag on the rest of them! Everyone has different figures and body shapes after all!
Finally the decorations, everything from the bouquets to the table decorations on the table at the reception i fell in love with instantly! Now what Lindsay did with the table decorations was something which I absolutely fell in love with from the minute I heard the idea and screamed vintage all over! Which in case any of you didn't know already is right up my street! Lindsay simply collected however many 10's of different shaped jam jars and covered them with a thick layer of lace and placed dried lavender and other dried flowers in the jars with homemade candles and fairy lights placed around them to create her table decorations at the reception, so when the lights were dimmed the room sparkled in a cute romantic way! Little things like this, I think, are what really make a wedding, as not only does it give it that touch of originality but it's also homemade and makes the entire wedding a lot more personal to the bride and groom as it's not just something else that anybody else can have, even if they use the same idea, it'll always be slightly different!
So if you're looking for something traditional but not too traditional at the same time then please taking inspiration from this beautiful day! I shall be back to my normal OOTD blogging tomorrow and the only thing left for me to say once again is Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Leashorne!
