No outfit is complete without Lipstick..

So as I'm sure you are all aware by now I have an awfully large soft spot for red lipstick, and have had since a very, very young age or I suppose I could say I've just had a soft spot for makeup in general as most little girls do when they sit and watch their mothers apply their makeup in a morning as you've got nothing better to do at that age and think I cant wait to play around with that stuff (which I often did when my mum would disappear and I'd come downstairs and proudly present my new face which looked close to a clowns in a circus. However lipstick has always been the one thing that I swear by, even when I've had my numerous spouts of conjunctivitis in the past year or so and been unable to wear any eye makeup, girls who wear eyeliner and fake eyelashes everyday will understand my feeling of eye nakedness even for a few days, I've still gone out wearing my bold red lipstick because it took the attention away from my gooey eyes and brought peoples attention to my lips.

But I understand that red lipstick isn't everybody's cup of tea and doesn't always suit everyone's skin colour, but alike Marilyn Monroe, which I think is where my first love of bright red lipstick and nails to match came from, I was blessed with fair skin, and I say blessed very lightly here as I only love it for the way I can get away with wearing my red lipstick and it suiting my complexion, having fair skin and trying to get a tan on holiday, as many of you may know, does not go! So here's just a few tips for fellow lipstick lovers out there wondering what colours/ colour pallet would suit their complexion the most;

Fair Skin -
If you've been given the fair skin gene like me then Red Lipstick is you new best friend, trust me, everything and anything goes with it, plus there's different shades to as well, I usually have a lighter red on during the day especially during the same as it gives your lips a bit of colour but also tones your lip colour down and then I wear a brighter/darker red at night to give my complexion a more dramatic look and feel to it. The big no, no when you have fair skin as professional makeup artist, Daniel Sandler, states what's the point in wearing pale lipsticks when you're already fair skinned, all it will do is wash you out! So besides red's stick to plum colours, hot pinks/ pinks and anything that's got a bit of a kick too it because it will immediately liven up your face.

The Darker Red Lipstick I use for more of a statement look - Maybeline, Kate Moss edition,  #1 £5.90 - Superdrug

Lighter Red Lipstick, the same lipstick used as above just dabbed with a tissue after it's been applied to calm down the look for the day - Maybeline, Kate Moss Edition, #1, £5.90 - Superdrug

This is one of my newbie Lipsticks which I've fallen in love with and Plum lipstick is set to be a popular shade for this Autumn/Winter - Avon - £4.50

Dark Skin -
David Sandler once again states to stay away from anything that's too light such as baby pink's and beiges/creams when wearing lipstick as you'll just look like a clown because it'll have such an extreme contrasting look in comparison to your skin colour, so once again stick with vivid bright colours alike people with fair skin, but you can also get away with lovely nude lipsticks which so enviously wish I had the right skin tone for!

Pinkish Skin -
David Sandler's number one tip as far as lipstick goes for this skin colour is to use a nude coloured lipstick with a pinkish gloss on top for the best effect, and I feel this look can be both carried off in the day and at night, as alike me with my red lipstick you can just play your lips down a little in the day, so instead of the combination of the nude lipstick and gloss perhaps just one or the other or putting a clear gloss on top of the nude lipstick and then a plumper pink one for at night to really emphasise your lips and your lip colour.

Sallow skin -
David Sandler once again states that it's all about the pink look if you have a sallow type of skin colour, on the lips and on the cheeks as it'll just make you look young and healthy and happy "like you've got a beautiful summer holiday glow" as Daniel Sandler states.
