Getting into the wedding season

With summer upon us and the English weather starting to pick up a little, it's not just holiday and festival season that's upon us we're also very much half way into some of the biggest months and days of peoples life's; Wedding season! Now as I'm a hopeless romantic, unfortunately at times, I am a sucker for a good wedding and with my old Fashion teacher's fastly approaching, which I'm honoured to have been asked to be a bridesmaid for her, I am therefore getting very caught up with everything remotely wedding related and have become a very sentimental person when it comes to Wedding dresses, venues and anything else that I see pop up on my newsfeed on Twitter or Instagram, but for now I'm just going to stick to the dreaming, they'll be no walk down the isle for me anytime soon!

So seeing as I'm fully immersed in all this wedding day stuff, it was no surprise that when Fearne Cotton's pictures of her wedding dress hit the internet the other week I immediately clicked on the link and awed out loud. Known for her quirky fashion sense and colourful personality I was a little shocked that she had kept her look traditional and hadn't chosen to wear something wacky and completely out there on her wedding day like so many celebrity brides do today. Instead she kept her look elegant and sophisticated and the dress, a Peter Dundas gown, 50's silhouette inspired with an embellished neckline, suited her down to the ground and she couldn't have looked happier.

Like so many brides today Fearne decided to keep it simple, classic and elegant and if I was getting married today I would do exactly the same, a vintage wedding is possible my favourite type, lace is one of the main factors of this. My mum had a lace wedding dress and looked absolutely breath-taking when she walked down the isle precisely 23 years ago last Saturday so I think I've always had a weakness for a vintage style wedding, this combined with my love of  the 50's style is something which will definitely be considered when it's my turn to walk down the isle, but that's a long way off yet, so here's just a few bits and pieces which I think would look adorable and be so sentimental for anyone's big day.
