My three essential Winter Coats and Acessories
So in today's blogpost, once again I am trying something new! Now it's not completely set apart from a typical OOTD post, but instead it combines three coats/jackets which I own, which I believe are winter essentials due to their style and silhouette and sometimes because of there colour! I'm also going to look at three of my winter accessory essentials which you can team with anyone of the coats which I own, along with a variety of other garments. So if you're struggling to find which style winter coat to have this year or you don't know what accessories would best dress up your winter wardrobe, then this is the blogpost for you!
Now I will pre-warn you before you scroll any further down this blogpost, that a lot of my winter essentials, are black, no surprise there! But I do want to emphasise just because I have chosen to buy these different garments and accessories in the colours I have, it doesn't mean that you have too! Everyone has personal preference over colour and I do tend to play it safe, especially when buying accessories because if they're black, it means I can get away with wearing them with whatever other colour I choose! With all this in mind, here's today's winter essentials; coats and accessories!
1. Leather Jacket;
This is an accessory which has already featured a lot on a number of my blogpost's over the past few months and is perhaps one of my favourite accessories as a whole as you can wear it whatever time of the year it is and it wont look out of place! It looks great teamed with skinny's and a high necked vest in summer and looks even more perfect with a mini pencil skirt and leather jacket this time of year, what more could you ask for from an £8 Primark hat? This is exactly why this black oversized floppy hat is one of my three winter essential accessories!
Whether you buy a leather jacket with a fur collar on or just have a simple plain leather jacket like mine and don't want to pay all that money just for a bit of fur, then this is the perfect accessory for you! This easy clip on and clip off type of faux fur collar looks perfect on a leather jacket, on your winter coat or simply as an accessory on its own, depending on how cold it is outside and that is why it is the my 3rd and final winter essential accessory! I honestly do not know what I'd do without it now and for £12 it's a lot cheaper than other high street brands are retailing similar products for!

Left to Right - Leather Jacket - TKMaxx - £25, Dogtooth Oversized Tailored Coat - Matalan - £40, Teddy Bear Black Oversized Coat - Primark - £25 |
1. Leather Jacket;
Now if you're a regular follower/reader of my blog then you're all probably fed up of me banging on about how much I encourage you all to go out and buy a leather jacket on a regular basis and this is precisely the reason why it's one of my three essential winter coats this year! My leather jacket is something which is the first coat I always go to grab when the weather starts to get that little colder, and I don't have to think about what I'm wearing before I put it on because it goes with everything! If you're not too keen on the smaller, fitted more typical leather jacket silhouette like mine, then they have some beautiful oversized ones out there at the minute with faux fur collars like the one on my Asos wish list yesterday!
2. Dogtooth Oversized Tailored Coat
Being a fashion student it comes as no surprise that I buy/ have to have a new winter coat every year, especially with the trends, styles and silhouettes being changed up and altered for the new winter season, but this particular coat was actually my winter coat last year and I am very happy to say that I can still wear it this winter and it still looks as bang on trend as it did last year! Now I may not be able to wear this coat with as many things as my leather jacket, but with it still being of a colour which is easy to wear a lot of things with I got full use out of it last year and will continue too in the next few months, plus it's a beautiful pattern and texture!
3. Teddy Bear black oversized coat
My third and final winter essential coat/jacket is this beautiful cosy number which, yes is from Primark! Now everyone always asks me how I find such nice clothes in Primark and the honest question is I do not know, I just sift through the rubbish in there or spot the garments which look like they aren't from Primark out of the corner of my eye and that is the honest answer! This teddy bear coat is one which looks so good on and like my leather jacket, goes with practically anything because of the colour and the style/silhouette is a must have as far as winter coats are concerned this year. Plus for £25 can you really grumble because for a practically identical coat like this in Topshop you would be paying upwards of £50!
Red Tartan Scarf - Primark - £5, Black Fur Collar - Matalan - £12, Oversized black Floppy hat - Primark - £8 |
1. Oversized Black Floppy Hat
2. Red Tartan Scarf
So anyone once again, whose a frequent reader of my blog will no that I have a massive love for tartan especially this time of year as I think tartan just fits perfectly in with the whole winter/ Christmas feeling and this tartan scarf is no exception! Now like I said right at the beginning of the post you don't have to buy this accessory in this specific colour for it to still be a major part of your winter wardrobe this season! My friend Helena, recently brought a jade green coloured tartan scarf like this one from accessories and its lush! So if you're not the biggest red lover, have a look around the high-street and you're bound to find a tartan scarf in the colour you want!
3. Black Faux Fur Collar
So there you have it, my three essential winter coats and accessories which look equally as good mix and matched together as they do on their own! I hope this perhaps has given you some more insight into what to look for if your winter wardrobe is slacking a little at the minute! I'll be back again tomorrow with my old school OOTD blogpost of the week!
