Wish List Wednesday; River Island
So wish list Wednesday is back and I must say today's wish list is full of colour and different patterns, by no coincidence I may add, but is perfect for this time of year as with the nights drawing in and the days becoming colder we've got to have something to brighten up the day, so why not out outfit choices? Today's colourful brand is one of the main competitors on the high street and is one that I don't necessarily shop from all the time, but when they have good stock in they tend to have an entire store of garments and accessories that I make myself believe I NEED to have in my head and it ends up costing me just a small fortune, but hey ho, I'm a fashion student, I'm aloud to spend a small fortune on clothes right?
River Island is a London headquarters based high-street fashion brand, which was first founded in 1948 by Bernard Lewis and his brothers and is still a private company which is run by the Lewis family today. River Island now operates in a number of worldwide markets and has over 300 stores across the UK, Ireland and internationally throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe. River Island is known by every girl/women from the age of 14 and above and offers an array of the latest trends and styles, in the latest colour pallets and patterns at affordable high-street prices, so as a consumer what is there to complain about when it comes to this brand I ask you? in my opinion nothing! River Island is known for it's stylish and affordable fashion and the unique touches that they bring to their collections, which ultimately makes them stand out in comparison from other retailers on the market.
Like I've said previously in today's blogpost I'm not necessarily as obsessed with River Island as I am with Topshop, if you follow my blog account on Instagram (jlpthegirlwiththeredlips) then you'll know this from one of my fashion quote post's which says; " I like long, romantic walks to TOPSHOP"! I have however, become rather partial to River Island in the past year, as its conveniently on the walk to Topshop in Huddersfield, so it would be rude not to pay it a visit and I must say I am loving their Autumn/Winter collection at the minute, it's so vibrant and offers an array of different styles of garments and in a variety of different colours, in fact there's so much to choose from it's hard not to want the same skirt in 2 or 3 different colours! With all this in find, here's just a few of my top "just arrived" garments from this thriving high-street brand;
So that's my wish list Wednesday done, what do you think of my must haves from River Island for this season? Make sure to have a look at the "just arrived" section on the River Island website or App to find some more newbies for this years Autumn/Winter wardrobe yourself!

Like I've said previously in today's blogpost I'm not necessarily as obsessed with River Island as I am with Topshop, if you follow my blog account on Instagram (jlpthegirlwiththeredlips) then you'll know this from one of my fashion quote post's which says; " I like long, romantic walks to TOPSHOP"! I have however, become rather partial to River Island in the past year, as its conveniently on the walk to Topshop in Huddersfield, so it would be rude not to pay it a visit and I must say I am loving their Autumn/Winter collection at the minute, it's so vibrant and offers an array of different styles of garments and in a variety of different colours, in fact there's so much to choose from it's hard not to want the same skirt in 2 or 3 different colours! With all this in find, here's just a few of my top "just arrived" garments from this thriving high-street brand;
So the first garment on today's wish list is this little grey pleated number which I really do love and think it would look great with a variety of different coloured jumpers and shirts/blouses teamed with it this Autumn/Winter. The great thing about this colour and style of skirt is the fact that grey is like black, it pretty much goes with everything and suits everybody; although people often consider this colour to be a bit bland its nothing that a vibrant patterned or coloured jumper/blouse can't fix and pleats are one of the biggest trends within the styling of skirts this season, so be sure you get your hands on at least one pleated skirt this season!
Now you should all know, like all my closest friends and course friends know for that matter, that I have a massive jumper addiction! Now I don't know why or what it is about jumpers but I always manage to find a new style or pattern that I think I need to have, because it would look really cute with this and that item that I've already got in my wardrobe, hence why I've got 20+ jumpers and this jumper is no exception. This little blue knit crop top/jumper is one that A. follows the pastel trend of this years Autumn/Winter colour pallet and B. it's also cropped which seems to be the in style for jumpers this season, so why not just treat yourself to this little pastel number? You won't regret it I swear!
Now I'm a tartan lover and it appears that so is the fashion industry this season; this skirt is exactly the same style and cut as the first skirt which has appeared on today's wish list Wednesday, just in a different material, its amazing how colour and pattern can change a simple garment so drastically isn't it? Now out of the two of these skirts this one is definitely my favourite, but I think I'm slightly bias because I love the tartan/check trend anyway, but whether you invest in either this tartan number or the little grey one, both are bang on trend this season simply because of their pleated style!
With the weather getting colder, slowly but surely we're going to see scarfs and hats and mittens slowly creeping their way back into our wardrobes and being worn on a regular basis, and what more could you want then a vibrant one like this? Now these style of scarfs aren't exactly great for blizzard and -3 conditions outside, which some of you may have this winter, but they're great as dress scarfs and don't just have to be part of your Autumn/Winter wardrobe either, they can easily be worn all year round and vibrant coloured ones like this satin blue sixties print scarf, can easily add colour to an otherwise boring outfit, whether it be round your neck, in your hair or attached to your bag!
Now here's another vibrant patterned piece, like I said at the beginning of this blogpost, it wasn't intentional for me to team all these vibrant colours and patterns into one blogpost but I loved them too much to not include them all in today's wish list Wednesday! Now the great thing about high-wasited shorts like this, if the fact that they're great for wearing all year round; they easily add that little bit of colour to your winter wardrobe and look great teamed with a long sleeved shirt or jumper and in summer they look equally as good with a little strappy vest or crop top so they're definitely worth the investment!
Once again the tartan/check trend has made an appearance on today's wish list blogpost more than once, like it usually does with this tartan printed scarf. Now like my red tartan scarf, this accessory/garment, which ever you prefer to call it, is great for simply adding that little bit of colour and pattern to an outfit without over doing it or simply incorporating the tartan/check trend into your Autumn/Winter wardrobe without going over board! Plus this particular tartan scarf fits very well into the pastel colour pallet of this Autumn/Winter and at £15 can't you really complain. Its bang on trend and has an affordable price tag, what more could you ask for from your winter warmers this season?
Finally are these beautiful Pyjama shorts, now these may seem a bit of an odd ball because I know its not necessarily considered a fashion show for most people when it comes down to choosing their sleeping attire, unless they're trying to impress someone for whatever reason that may be. But I fell in love with these delicate little pyjama pants and although I didn't come across a matching pyjama top, I'm going to continue to look and hopefully these little beauties will be keeping me not so warm in bed in the coming months!
So that's my wish list Wednesday done, what do you think of my must haves from River Island for this season? Make sure to have a look at the "just arrived" section on the River Island website or App to find some more newbies for this years Autumn/Winter wardrobe yourself!
